CLASSES

Each YAS ensemble will explore character development, group devised and scripted work, comedy, drama, movement, audition intensives, voice and accent skills, musical theatre, dance and singing techniques and other drama conventions required for stage and screen. Students will workshop the skills to make short films, storytelling techniques, and scriptwriting. Tools will be provided to support students with preparing for eisteddfods and in creating truthful, entertaining, powerful performances. Students will receive positive feedback in every lesson and learn the importance of being a supportive ensemble member. First semester focuses on skill development and ensemble work, semester two students will showcase these skills in live performances. All students will have the opportunity to perform in an end of term and annual productions for an invited audience.

The actor’s tool – ‘The Body’.

The foundation of all our classes is centred on the importance of the actors main tool - The Body. Through exciting movement and vocal warmups, YAS students are ready physically, mentally, and emotionally to nail auditions and to work well with other actors on stage and screen.

Auditions and Eisteddfods

Auditions!

Going for an audition can be a daunting experience, however, it is a vital part of the performing arts industry that all actors will face. Each term our YAS students will get an idea of what to expect heading in to a casting and how to prepare, this includes both in-room auditions and self tapes. Through this process, students will explore important script analysis techniques, understand complex terminology & learn how to incorporate character descriptions, assisting each young actor how to approach and prepare for a real life audition!

Many of our YASERS have been invited to audition for professional theatre, television and film productions landing fantastic roles.

Eisteddfods!

Each year our YAS students are invited to enter local and interstate Drama Eisteddfods. Eisteddfods are another great way to work the same skills required for auditions and to get feedback from other industry professionals. For further information on entering as a solo, duo or group competitor for an eisteddfod, please contact our office yasonthecoast@gmail.com to book a private lesson.
